Introducing the West German Fat Lava Jug Vase

This striking jug vase exemplifies the iconic ‘fat lava’ style pottery popularised in West Germany during the 1960s and 70s. Characterised by its thick, textured glaze and bold colour palettes, this piece features a vibrant orange hue with a dynamic, flowing design. The substantial weight and unique form of this vase speak to the craftsmanship and artistic flair of the era, making it a standout example of mid-century modern design.

Condition and Collectibility

This vintage jug vase shows signs consistent with age and use, adding to its character and authenticity. While there may be minor imperfections in the glaze or surface, these do not detract from the overall visual appeal. Collectors prize fat lava pottery for its distinctive aesthetic and relative scarcity, making this piece a desirable addition to any vintage ceramics collection or a statement piece for retro-inspired interiors.
