Shepherd’s Crook Description

This is a traditional shepherd’s crook, featuring a distinctive horn-shaped head that incorporates a whistling mechanism. The crook is crafted from wood, likely ash or similar hardwood, and exhibits a classic curved design intended for guiding sheep and providing support while traversing fields. The horn head is intricately carved and designed to produce a clear whistling sound, historically used for signalling and communication in rural settings.

Shepherd’s Crook Condition

The shepherd’s crook shows signs of age and use, with some wear and patina to the wood and horn. While not pristine, this adds to its character and authenticity. This piece would appeal to collectors of ruralia, antique tools, or those with an interest in traditional countryside crafts.
