Two Windcraft Clarinets in Cases
A lot comprising two Windcraft clarinets, each housed in its own case. One clarinet is presented in a black zip-fronted soft case with a shoulder strap, the other in a hard-shell case lined with blue plush. The lot offers two separate woodwind instruments for students, players or collectors.
The first clarinet is shown in pieces, with its upper and lower joints, bell, barrel, mouthpiece and two metal rings laid out in the case. Its keywork appears to be silver-toned, and the joints have cork-ended tenons. The second clarinet is also dismantled, with its upper joint, barrel, bell and lower joint set into the blue-lined case. Its keys appear to be nickel-plated. Both instruments are black, with a traditional turned-wood style body typical of the form.
Condition and Collector Interest
The cases show general signs of handling and age, and the instruments display wear consistent with prior use. No playing test or mechanical assessment has been carried out, so the functionality of the keywork, pads and corks has not been confirmed. Buyers should inspect the lot carefully before bidding. The pairing of two Windcraft clarinets with their original-style cases may appeal to students seeking a spare instrument, to restorers, or to collectors of mid-twentieth-century woodwind instruments.
