Wooden Folding Tripod Field Easel
This wooden folding tripod field easel is a portable support for painters who work outside the studio. It is offered in its folded state, with the three legs gathered together for storage and transport.
The easel is made from light-toned timber and forms a tripod frame with a central upright and a horizontal top rail. Each leg is fixed at the head with metal bolts and wing nuts, which allow the legs to be opened and adjusted. The maker and country of origin are not identified.
Condition and Collector Interest
The easel is presented with its legs folded and secured together with an elastic band. The timber shows general marks and scuffing consistent with handling over time, and the metal fittings appear to be original. Its operation has not been tested, and the piece is sold as seen.
The simple wooden construction and traditional folding design may appeal to collectors of vintage artists’ equipment, or to painters seeking a classic field easel.
