WW1 Trench Art Vase

This striking vase is a remarkable example of First World War trench art, crafted from a repurposed brass cartridge case, likely of French origin, bearing the inscription “Profon de Ville”. The vase features embossed detailing including a crown and laurel wreath, indicative of skilled craftsmanship undertaken by soldiers during periods of respite. The base is constructed from spent 1917/18 bullets, adding to its unique and poignant character.

Condition and Collectibility

The vase exhibits signs consistent with its age and wartime origins, including patina and minor wear. While not pristine, these imperfections contribute to its authenticity and historical significance. This piece would be of particular interest to collectors of military memorabilia, trench art, or those fascinated by the resourcefulness and artistry displayed during wartime.
