Historical Significance

This is a small, green glass bottle believed to have been used by the Schutzstaffel (SS) during World War II. These bottles were designed to contain cyanide or other lethal poisons, intended for use by SS operatives as a means of avoiding capture. The bottle’s simple, yet robust construction suggests a utilitarian purpose, and its small size indicates it was meant to be easily concealed. The bottle’s historical context makes it a particularly poignant and disturbing artifact of the war.

Condition and Collectibility

The bottle appears to be in original condition, showing signs of age and wear consistent with its historical period. While there are no visible markings or labels, the bottle’s shape and colour are consistent with known examples of SS poison bottles. This item is of interest to collectors of WWII memorabilia, military history enthusiasts, and those interested in the darker aspects of the war. It serves as a stark reminder of the brutality and desperation of the conflict.
