WWI Cutaway Cannon Shell
This is a fascinating cutaway display model of a World War I artillery shell, dating to 1916. The shell has been sectioned to reveal its internal construction, offering a detailed look at the engineering of early 20th-century weaponry. It features a brass base, likely marking the original manufacturing details or unit designation, and exhibits a painted finish, possibly added during or after service as a form of trench art or display piece.
Condition and Collectability
The shell displays signs of age and wear consistent with its historical period and use as a display item. The paint finish shows some chipping and fading, and the brass base exhibits patina. This piece would be of interest to collectors of military memorabilia, particularly those focused on World War I artillery or trench art, and offers a unique insight into the technology of the era.
