Yantang Bayonet Scabbard

This is a scabbard designed for a Yantang bayonet, likely dating from the late Qing dynasty or early Republican period. The scabbard is constructed from a dark-toned material, possibly wood or a composite, and exhibits a simple, functional design. It features a pronounced throat to secure the bayonet and a pointed tip. The overall form suggests it was intended for military use, providing protection for the bayonet blade when not in use.

Condition and Collectibility

The scabbard shows signs of age and wear consistent with its likely historical use. There are surface scratches, minor chips, and evidence of handling. Despite this wear, the scabbard remains structurally sound and retains its original form. This piece would be of interest to collectors of Chinese military antiques, edged weapons, or bayonets, offering a glimpse into the weaponry of a bygone era.
