Large Antique Carved Oak Wall Mirror
This large antique wall mirror is set within a broad, pierced foliate frame carved from oak. The rectangular frame is worked with scrolling acanthus-style leaves, flowerheads and open C-scrolls that run around all four sides, with the most elaborate carving at the top and along the sides. The mirror plate sits inside a narrower inner moulding and has a bevelled edge. The open carving gives the piece a strong sculptural presence and reflects the decorative taste of the period in which it was made.
Condition and Collector Interest
The frame retains its pierced carving across the top, sides and base, and the bevelled mirror plate is in place. Any further condition details, including the state of the glass and the wood, are best confirmed by viewing the piece in person before the sale. Its generous scale and elaborate openwork carving make it of interest to collectors of antique carved furniture and decorative wall mirrors, and to buyers looking for a striking focal point for a hallway, dining room or drawing room.

Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. #### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
