Victorian Eight Motto Multi Wheel Intaglio Seal with Two Fob Seals
This lot brings together a Victorian eight motto multi wheel intaglio seal, a 19th century carnelian letter seal and two fob seals. The multi wheel seal has eight rotating faces arranged around a central hub, each engraved with a motto design, a format that allowed several impressions to be selected from one piece. The carnelian letter seal bears a horseshoe design on its red face and is set in a brass mount with a short stem. The two fob seals are smaller: one is a brass example with a rectangular face and a suspension loop, and the other is an oval seal engraved with a looping script initial, fitted with a ring-top bail.
Condition and Collector Interest
The pieces show the wear and tarnish expected of their age, with visible patina on the brass mounts and engraved faces. The detail of wear on each individual seal is best judged in person, and prospective buyers wishing to examine the lot more closely are encouraged to contact the saleroom before bidding. The group will appeal to collectors of Victorian desk accessories, seal fobs and multi wheel seals, as well as those interested in the decorative engraving and motifs of the period.

Items are sold on a “sold as seen” basis, electrical items etc are untested unless stated otherwise in the title of the items in question. We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. Please be aware that as we are now VAT registered the buyers commission is now 17.5% plus VAT.
#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
